A lush week of sunshine, chill and cocktails

Holidays do the world of good to your sense of well being and to be able to escape reality and the trials and tribulations of every day life even for a week is a wonderful thing for the soul.

I had a gorgeous week of sun sea sand pool cocktails and food with the boyf and I have come back (somewhat reluctantly, the boyf thought he would have to drag me to the airport kicking and screaming) feeling nice and refreshed and relaxed.

As you probably know I went to Fuerteventura and stayed in an all inclusive hotel and didn’t do a whole lot but thought I’d tell you guys about it here in case any of you fancy a nosy, were considering going to Fuerte or just want to look at some pretty pictures with wanderlust.

We stayed in a hotel called Jandia Princess in Esquinzo which is about an hour away from the airport. It had 3 pools, 2 restaurants and 4 bars to choose from! This is the view from the sunbeds we chose most days. Not to shabby ay!

As it was all inclusive there were cocktails on tap so as you can imagine a lot of Pina Colada’s were consumed! There was a buffet on for all 3 meals plus snacks in the day with a chance to go to 2 al a carte meals plus 1 bbq meal overlooking the sea. The food was lovely considering it was all inclusive I’ve not experienced all inclusive food nicer than this one but it can get quite samey after a while.

We mostly chilled by the pool sunbathing and taking the occasional dip. We took a few walks down the beach, (it is also a large naturist area so if you aren’t careful where you look you will see a few images of old nakie people!!) which is a gorgeous white sandy beach with turquoise and blue sea which was shallow quite far out (and very cold!)

We walked all the way along the beach for about an hour to the centre of Jandia to do a spot of tourist shopping and saw the harbour. Just look at the colour of the sea where the beach stops! This was from the edge of a residential street which was fenced off, such a gorgeous place to live! It was lovely to be able to see the area where the locals live too and soak up a bit of culture.

The harbour housed a cute little Turtle hospital where they take in and care for sick turtles, you can only see two massive ones that swim around in their tanks as the others are too poorly and are roped off but you can get so close to them, you wouldn’t ever get this close on a boat! The stories are sad that they are constantly being injured by humans which hugely threatens their survival, but I am so glad places like this are helping the turtle population to survive (bit of education there for you bet you weren’t expecting that!)

The hotel was right on the edge of the beach, which you can see whilst lying at the pool, walking around the resort or eating breakfast or lunch. The view of the beach was just beautiful and I could never get enough of that sight, I am so sad to look out of my window to the grey English sky and roads!

Weather wise a couple of days it was sunny but super windy, one day it was cloudy for most of the day but apart from that it was so boiling I had to keep cooling down in the pool (which was blooming freezing!)!

I had a lovely week of chilling and not worrying about anything at all I would thoroughly recommend a week in the sun to anyone who needs a good relax!

We only booked this about a month before we went as a last minute cheap holiday, which was cheap as it was in April but this is definitely a place for good weather at this time of year!

Has anyone else been to Feurteventura? What did you think? Let me know below!
