5 Beauty Hacks You Need To Know | My Guest Post for Sherry Scribbles

Hello lovelies, today I have the guest post I did for the lovely Sherry Scribbles blog!

Any beauty lover knows that it takes time to perfect a beauty routine whether that be hair, skin or makeup.

Anything that can make that process easier or better is a blessing, so today I want to share with you 5 hacks I’ve learned along my beauty journey that will make you a beauty girl boss!

Number 1 – Dry shampoo

The ultimate life saver when your hair is due for a wash and you just don’t have the time! Personally my hair takes ages to wash dry and straighten so I really can use the age old excuse of “I’m sorry I can’t, I’m washing my hair” and as you can imagine dry shampoo is a life saver for me!

But did you know that if you apply it the night before, it will soak up all the grease over night and you will wake up with fresh looking hair. No more leaving the house with that white powdery residue still visible!

My fave dry shampoo to use at night that really works hard to soak any grease is LUSH No Drought powder. Just sprinkle a little on your hand and rub into any offending areas. Remember to do underneath the roots as well, not just on top.

Number 2 – Under eye concealer

When trying to conceal those under eye dark circles, you just slap on some concealer around the area, blend and hope for the best right?

Wrong! Using your concealer, draw a triangle with the point going downwards onto your cheek THEN blend. If required (if you’re super tired), repeat the same step again drawing the triangle.

Number 3 – Tidy up lipstick edges

Have you ever been doing your lipstick, concentrating really hard to get a perfect line and no matter how hard you try you just can’t get it perfect? I am such a perfectionist when it comes to lipstick and I’m not happy unless it’s lined up correctly.

Enter the next hack – using an angled brush (usually for brows), dip into your liquid concealer (or get the residue off the wand) and gently draw along the edge of the lips to tidy up as necessary. If the line is quite obvious, gently blend it using your beauty blender, being careful not to touch or smudge your lipstick!

Number 4 – Saving foundation on your beauty blender

There is nothing more frustrating than losing huge amounts of foundation product because your beauty blender just eats it all up. After you dampen your sponge, if you spray your beauty blender with fixing spray before applying foundation it will soak up less product, saving you more foundation!

Number 5 – Applying dark eyeshadows

I recently learnt during a makeup class at a local makeup boutique that if you use a neutral base eye shadow shade before applying a darker one, it actually decreases the pigmentation of the darker shadow, meaning you don’t get the full colour payoff the shadow can offer.

Therefore my tip is to apply dark eyeshadows first directly onto the lid, and add the lighter colours in after. You get the full colour pay off and no wastage, you’re welcome!

So there are my 5 beauty hacks to make your beauty routine a little easier. I hope they help you and if you have any other tips to share I’d love to hear them in the comments below!

Great tips! I started doing the triangle concealer shape after seeing it on YouTube – I do mine more straight down lined up with my nose edge. 🙂

I love all of these tips. Dry shampoo is a life saver – but I’d never though to put it on overnight before. As for the under-eye concealer, I need bucket loads! Someone at work asked me if I had a black eye!!
