Maybelline Fit Me Foundation | Review

I know there is no such thing as a perfect foundation, but I am on the hunt for a decent matte foundation with good pore coverage. Is that too much to ask?

When I heard about the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation that claims to be both matte and poreless I knew I had to give it a go.

I have tried it a number of times now so I think I have enough experience to be able to tell you how it has worked for me.

Claims

Maybelline claim that this foundation mattifies and refines pores with blurring micro-powders for poreless looking skin for a natural seamless finish.

Colours

Maybelline have a wide range of 18 colours in this range and I am the lightest one – 105 (pale girl problems)

Price

This comes in at £5.99 for 30ml of product which is a good price for a decent amount. But is it worth it?

Packaging

This is a standard plastic tube with a clear lid. The top half is a matte black with the bottom half clear so you can see the foundation inside. It dons the blue metallic Fit Me text with the Maybelline logo and the shade number printed large on the front. It looks very much like a drugstore product with no thrills packaging.

Application

You can easy control the desired amount of foundation due to the squeezy tube function. The consistency is quite watery and thin and it applies very wet to the skin. You need a large amount of foundation to get a full face coverage so you use quite a lot. This takes ages to dry on the skin so I have to wait for ages before I can apply the rest of my makeup.

Finish

The finish of this I would not say is matte. It is semi-matte and doesn’t last very long at all before my oil shines through, I would say a matter of hours. It most definitely is not poreless either, my pores were extremely visible when using this foundation. I would say this is a natural finish in that it doesn’t look like you are caked in foundation but it isn’t flawless. Setting it with powder just emphasises the rubbish way it’s applied no matter how much you dab and blend with a beauty blender.

Longevity

This does not last long at all before my oil shines through and if you so much as touch your face, it rubs off and leaves your skin underneath showing through. By the end of the day this is a patchy mess and does not look good at all.

Overall

If you have oily skin and enlarged/oversized pores, I would not recommend this foundation. If you don’t, well I’m sure there are foundations much better suited for your skin type. I am disappointed this affordable product didn’t play up to its claims but I won’t lose any sleep over the price I paid.

Have you tried this foundation? I would love to know your thoughts below!

  1. I have and I have normal/combo skin so it works for me when I mix it with TBS lightening drops. Sorry it didn’t for you, but at least it’s not super expensive.
