Life Update | Moving Abroad

Bit of a different post today as I wanted to update you on my life plans and the big scary but exciting move that’s happening….

At the end of August my boyfriend Jay and I are moving halfway across the world to the Bahamas!

Random I know but let me explain our reasons and plans…

Jay is a maths teacher and has accepted a job teaching at an International School in Nassau, Bahamas.

It’s a decision we both made together and not one where he just got a job and I had to decide whether or not to go with him. Moving abroad was always something we wanted to do together and we made the decision to apply to this school together.

We were originally looking to move to New York but no jobs were on offer at the time so we looked for other international jobs and applied for a few different ones. Jay went to a few interviews until he was offered this one and we decided YOLO and accepted it.

It’s a big move from little old Nottingham I know, but you only live once and we only regret the things we didn’t do. It’s an amazing opportunity and one we need to embrace. Jay’s contract is only for 2 years so we aren’t moving there forever.

It’s a chance for us to move somewhere hot and sunny and enjoy the beach life for a little while and experience another part of the world and another culture.

We are both 25 which everyone keeps saying is “still young” and we definitely need to do it now whilst we can before we get too old/settled down.

I’m very sad to leave my family and my friends, but if you don’t take chances in life you will always wonder what could have been.

Living by the beach with nice weather is something I’ve always craved and what better place to do it than the Bahamas!

I am qualifying as a solicitor in September having finished a two year training contract at a solicitors firm. They practice English law in the Bahamas and recognise my qualifications so I am hoping to find a job in the legal profession there.

So the last few months have been stressful to say the least. The process of accepting the job and applying for Jay’s VISA etc. has been painfully slow and things are only just getting sorted.

We have had to move out of the house we rented together and back to each of our parent’s houses for 3 weeks or so before we move and that in itself was chaos!

In terms of my blog, I definitely want to keep it going. The Bahamas is very westernised and I don’t doubt I will still be able to get my hands on beauty products and failing that, it’s an hour away from Florida and there is a great shipping service from there (much like the ones from the US to the UK) so I’m sure I can get some goodies from America and keep my blog going.

I would like to add a few travel posts to my blog and hope you won’t mind a few Bahama’s related posts every now and then, but my blog won’t turn into a full on travel blog because makeup is still where my passion lies. I’m sure there will be a few US trips to blog about as well!

I’m also hoping that any PR mail that comes to my house my Mum can save up and mail over in one go for me to review on my blog.

So that’s my big news, I hope you will all bare with me whilst I make the transition to the beach life! It’s going to be scary but I’m sure in a month or so I’ll be settled in. And hey, if it doesn’t work out, we can just move back, but we need to take the chance to see what happens.

I’m sure there will be lots of updates on my Twitter and Instagram too so be sure to follow me on there if you’re interested! Links are below.

I hope I’ve answered everyone’s questions! Thanks for all your support on my little blog.

Love you all,
