Makeovers at Lancôme | Celebrating the launch of Monsieur Big

Lancôme is a brand I’ve only dabbled in and not particularly tried anything substantial from, which isn’t on purpose I just never got round to trying anything properly.

When I was invited to visit the Lancôme counter at John Lewis in Nottingham for a makeover*, I was thrilled to accept and to properly try out some of their makeup and products.

The makeover was to celebrate the launch of their brand new mascara Monsieur Big so I couldn’t wait to give it a go!

I was booked in on a Wednesday after work as John Lewis are open later on a Wednesday so I thought it would be a great time to go as I was meeting the blogging girls that evening so it would save me the job of topping up my makeup!

I was greeted by a lovely friendly lady called Jane, who offered me a glass of prosecco and apple juice to sip whilst I was pampered.

Jane sat me down and asked me what I wanted out of the makeover, to which I replied requesting to try some products as I had never really tried anything properly from Lancôme.

She removed all of my makeup and started off with skincare. We used the Energie De Vie range which is formulated to work well with oily skin. The texture is so light and feels fresh on the skin whilst still ensuring skin is hydrated. Perfect for my skin!

For the base we used the Teint Idole Ultra Wear 24 Hour Foundation which is oil free and long lasting. It is designed to last 24 hours (although Jane and I both agreed we can’t imagine anyone would need to test that theory!) without weighing down the skin. There is a huge variety of shades available which means you can find a colour to suit every skin tone.

The claims are so true it really is a lightweight foundation and the coverage is buildable – one application is a lighter coverage and more can be added for heavier coverage if that’s your thing (which it is for me).

Jane opted for a natural blush using their cream blushers which I admitted I had never tried before. Pop a blob of colour on the cheeks and blend out for a subtle flush of colour.

Next up we tried the brand new Monsieur Big, (Mr Big, think Sex in the City) named appropriately as the mascara is designed to add volume to the lashes. The full bristle wand clings to lashes and volumes without clumping.

I love the packaging of this it’s unlike any previous Lancôme mascara – the fuchsia pink detailing stands out against the sleek black. It was a very strange feeling having mascara applied by someone else – I was instructed to look down and to the side and she wiggled the wand up from the base to the top of my lashes.

Finally for the lips we went bright with one of the new Matte Shakers! These are so cool I’ve never used one before and I loved the feel of the product. It lasted ages on the lips, it had the feel of a stain rather than a liquid lipstick.

I was also kindly given a lovely goodie bag full of some fabulous products to try

You can experience a makeover at Lancôme to try out their products or to get you ready for an event for the price of £10 which is redeemable against a product on the day. Go check them out at your local department store and see for yourself!
