The best thing about blogging | An ode to my blogging besties

When I started my blog over 2 years ago now, I felt like I was feeling around in the dark with no direction or idea of what the hell I was doing.

Whilst I engaged a lot on social media with some lovely lovely people, I never really made proper friends, which can feel pretty lonely at times especially when you want to throw ideas around and ask opinions on things.

Despite this I toddled on and managed it until I was finally contacted by a local shopping centre and invited to an event, where I met some lovely local bloggers and the story begins there..

A local blogging event lead me to meet up with bloggers I never even know existed or lived near me, and would soon become very good friends.

Numbers were exchanged, group chats made cocktails and food was arranged and a love of lipstick bought us together.

Now I don’t know what I’d do without my blogging besties as you always know they’ll be there for any makeup or blogging related chat, plus unbiased friendship, career and general life advice.

These beauties are Lora from Lora Hullx, Molly from The Rose Beauty Files and Rachael from Helpless Whilst Drying.

I’d been a follower and fan of Rachael’s blog even before I knew she lived near me and knew we could be great friends. Lora and Molly I discovered after I met them and again our similarities were apparent from the off.

Our chats soon became a place to vent, ask for blogging advice (and in Rachael’s case ask her every SEO and wordpress related question you could think of, I’m surprised she’s not sick of us yet) and all things makeup.

Meeting up for food and cocktails and having people to go to events with just makes it all much more fun! The excitement for opportunities you receive as a blogger is much more fun when it’s shared with your fellow blogging buddies!

Finding others with the same amount of love for makeup to talk to on a daily basis is fabulous as other friends just don’t care about the newest eye shadow palette or that lipstick packaging.

Now I can’t imagine my life without these girls in it and if it wasn’t for my blog I would never be in this position.

Before I left for the Bahamas I was having a packing crisis and really begrudgingly had to cancel our last date and it’s a decision I wish I didn’t have to make as not getting to see them once more made me very sad!

They had all very thoughtfully got me Bahama’s related presents as a leaving gift and I wasn’t even able to receive them from them properly and for that I want to publicly say that girls I am so very sorry! (Bahama Mama Bronzer, Essie Bahama Mama and a Bahama’s Skinny Dip bag, how amazing!). They also got me the very appropriate card you see in these photos!

Not only has blogging allowed me to experience amazing PR opportunities I could only dream of, it opened up a whole new world of friendship and I am forever grateful I began this journey as it meant we were bought together by our love for lipstick (I stole this quote from Lora, thanks girl).

This doesn’t detract from the fact that I’ve also met so many other wonderful people through local blogging events and have gained some good friends that I look forward to seeing at local events, when I’m back in Nottingham at least!

I hope wherever your blogging journey takes you, you have made or will make some good friends as it means that people with the same hobbies and likes can come together. I urge you to go to that blogging event you’re too scared to go to, as friends can be made!

I also hope this post wasn’t too soppy, but I wanted to share my gratitude that blogging has bought me into the lives of some wonderful people.

Thanks so much for reading!
